Breeder Applicants must prove they follow the IALA/ALAA’s strict Health Testing Standards and stringent
Code of Ethics before they are offered membership. Once accepted, breeding programs are reviewed yearly by the IALA/ALAA

The ALAA Board would like to address the issue of the selling of dogs at auction. The practice of auctioning off dogs to the highest bidder is of much concern to us as the risks associated with this for the consumer are great, with no recourse available should there be an issue with the dog's health. The risk to each dog is great as well, as there is no consideration of the family or environment into which the dog will be placed. We'd like to encourage our members to seek out quality pet and breeding dogs from breeders who have good health warranties to offer as well as are careful to screen prospective families.. The ALAA charter mandates that we protect the future of the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle. Help us in this goal and do not support the selling of dogs through the auction process.
The International Australian Labradoodle Association (IALA) is a Global Group consisting of independent Regional
Sister Associations each operating under the guidance
of their own individual Code of Ethics and Elected Officers committed to the Labradoodle and
Australian Labradoodle breed. The ALAA, Australian Labradoodle Association of America, is proud to be in the IALA
representing the United States of America and Canada. The ALAA is a NOT-FOR-PROFIT organization and all our officers
and committee members are elected pet member and breeder member volunteers.

Our dog registry continues to grow with over 5000 REGISTERED dogs and over 4750 ADDITIONAL ancestors. Our membership increases
daily with over 550 pet members and 125 breeder members.
The ALAA serves to protect the health and integrity of the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle as a developing breed. The ALAA is dedicated to our Moral Owners the Australian Labradoodle Breed, Pet Owners and Consumers. The ALAA extends Breeder
Membership to those Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle Breeders that abide by the Code of Ethics, Standards of Excellence in Breeding Practices and Rules and Regulations. These
breeders are considered by the ALAA caretakers of the Australian Labradoodle and Labradoodle breed for our Moral Owners.
During the past year, the ALAA focused on ways to promote healthy Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle breeding
practices. The result of the endeavor gave breeders ways to update health records and breed towards healthier puppies.
At this early stage of development, it is crucial to focus on good health and a vibrant gene pool. Sadly,
many purebred breed dogs suffer serious health problems. Once health problems infect the breed, they have the potential
to perpetuate with each additional breeding. The best purebred breeders have worked decades trying to undo health problems
that resulted from early foundation stock. As Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle breeders are developing foundation
stock, we have an opportunity to breed the healthiest dogs right from the start. This mighty endeavor rewards every
ethical Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle breeder, owner and, of course, Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle itself.
Never before has a breed had the benefit of such worldwide collaboration. The Internet has created the ability for
Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle breeders worldwide to communicate, share best breeding practices, and raise the
breed standards. The ALAA is the only Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle organization to provide a comprehensive
online database of pedigrees and health testing reports. This not only encourages breeding for temperament, coat,
color and size, but it also encourages breeding to the best possible health standards.
As with any new breed, the ALAA recognizes it takes generations of Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle breedings
to reach the breed standard; thus, the time to start is now.

Don't just ask your breeder if health testing was performed - ask to see the results or check the ALAA dog registry
for the results (the ALAA requires copies of health results in order to post them in the dog registry). Together we can
